Default LS6 into an '87 GT?

i just came across a local guy selling an '03 LS6 with 20k miles on it. it does not have accessories with it or the wiring harness. he's asking $1900 for the motor. i'm not seeing too many guys running this combination. is there a reason to NOT run a vette motor and stick with the truck motors or GTO/camaro motors?

The LS6 is a nice engine in a sense that its all aluminum and has a more aggressive heads and cam. Unfortunately, it is an expensive engine. You could get a 5.3 or 6.0 for a few hundred with low miles on it and your only disadvantage would be an iron block. With the savings you could build an engine that makes more power than a stock LS6 (think better intake, heads and cam). I guess its up to you how you would like to do it. Good luck sounds like a fun project.
