Default What kind of motor is this?

All I have is casting numbers he said it's a ly6 but he don't really know I'm tryin to put it in a 95 caprice

These are what he sent me

Gm 5mco

1069f4442363

And on the block 8231 and a big 7

look behind the flexplate could be a 6.o or 4.8 or 5.3. casting numbers on the heads will give you a better idea of what model and year it is as well

He said it says 6.0 is there any obvious differences I can just ask him about

from the pics it looks like a lq4 to me.
it has a 3 bolt 78mm tb and intake and looks like it has the lq4 flexplate and spacer. remove the flexplate and on the top right corner the engine size is embossed.
it will read 6.0 or 4.8/5.3

whatever it is, it does not look like a ly6

check for the 3 digit casting on the heads on the flat pad under the valve cover rail.
it should read
317
or post what ever other numbers it has.

This is why is started using this site u guys just saved my from makin a huge mistake Thanks guys
I goin to get a way cheaper complete lq4 tomorrow with 50,000 on it is worth $1100

That's a good price for my area for that lq4. My stupid cousin passed up a 19k ly6 for 1000 I almost shot him myself

It looks like lq4, It has a flat flexplate not the concave.
