Question 4L80E Price

What's the going rate for newer model 4L80E trans (stock trans). Is $1,100 (core charge included) too much for an '09 model with 1,000 miles on it?

That's what I was thinking. Figured I check with guys on here that are more familiar with these. I just want to keep it stock for now (maybe Transgo Stage 2 kit down the line) and run it behind my current engine. May go LS engine (6.2L) in the future (not sure at this point). Planning on using a Baumann controller and a 2800 converter. Just need to figure out if I can use my existing crossmember without modifying it (hoping to just slide it back and drill new holes in frame).

What are you running for a trans cooler? I was thinking of just using a B&M supercooler (see link below). Not sure if I want to run it under car (off to side of trans) or up in front of radiator. A friend of mine ran one off to the side of his 4L80 and it seemed to work ok (didn’t drive it much and then sold it, so who knows if it works now).

Any suggestions on this?

Maybe something like this one http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-70266/

Im running a big one under the trunk floor with a 10"fan that kicks on at 170 degrees. Ive only heard it kick on once so Id say it runs cool.

I paid $650 for a 05 4L80E out of a full size van with 50,000 miles. That included converter and flywheel.

Wow, I didn't know the 4L80E was ever put behind a 4.3L V6!

just look under every 3/4 ton and up chevy vehicle vans and trucks included from 1993 i think? don't quote me on it. but wikipedia has an accurate year range if you look it up.

and FastKat I couldn't believe it either lol I thought that was the epitome of overkill when I saw it
