fuse/relay box used on LSx swap with stock harness
I have an LSx engine out of a 98 Camaro that I want to swap into my 79 Z28 and am going to retrofit the stock 98 harness/pcm into my car. But when you wire it up, what are you guys using for a breaker/fuse panel for the stand alone conversion?
I am aware of the 98 harness and pcm issues and that it is not the ideal swap for most, but mine is custom tuned for its mods and I have the donor car/harness already so thats why I am gonna use it.
I know I have seen them before, but I cannot find them right now. Brand and part number or where I can get one would be very helpful for me.
Thanks.

Depending on how far you want to go with the original harness you can rewire your car with 98 harness and remove what you don't need. Since your car is a 79 it should have the blade fuse block. If you want you can use the entire donor car harness and remove the fuse block from the 98 and repin it to the 79 fuse block. I am doing a 69 and have used the entire 4th gen harness by rewiring it to the 69 switches and lighting. This includes the BCM for the alarm, VATS, and the remote. I picked up a set of power door locks and retro fit them. The total cost for that was about $35. This was a lot of work but the interior lights and electrical system have all the logic of a 4th gen. The gauges are all Autometer. I had most of them from before but ended up with a new speedo and tach for the stock locations. This was a lot of work but well worth it in the end. Keep in mind you will use the 3 harnesses for the car. The engine, engine bay, and body harness. The engine and engine bay are virturally stand alone but the body harness does take some work. I did use a fuse block from a 80 Camaro because it is the blade type and it fits in the stock location. I also converted the wiper motor and I am using the column for the wipers, cruise, and the brights switch.

I am also working on wiring for 69 A-body. Plan to put PCM & fuse/relay boxs behind drivers side headlights. Need source for correct wire. May hit salvage yards this week. Is PCM harness from 99 Firebird the same as other cars??

Build your own for practically nothing

99-02 LS1 Fbodys have the same pinouts for the PCM
Also, buy new wire for harness work. A 100' roll of TXL 18ga is what, $20? Youll spend that just pulling harnesses to salvage plus it takes a LONG time to remove a harness from a JY engine

my car has the glass fuses in it yet, so I really want to make the LSx engine stand alone and not tap much into my stock harness if possible. I really like that $94.00 fuse box. Thanks and keep the ideas coming please.
