I have yet to hear it run.

After 2 days of cutting and plotting:

(yes I'm slow)
The impact was hard on the passenger side firewall which causes the steering linkage to hit the driver's side coilpack damaging it and the valve cover.

The car:

A 69 Camaro SS/RS that is a little rough. This is originally a burnished brown SS/RS with white houndstooth 350/350. I will eventually restore the body. Oh, the reason I know is gm of Canada kept records for all the cars they sold and this is from my hometown of Montreal. I've had it 19 years and bought it as a roller for $1000 at the age of 17. When I drove it to California in '93 I nearly cried when I saw all the clean and cheap Camaros compared to my rough car. I'm glad I stuck it out.

Why do I have different coils than other folks with LY6 on this forum? Is it because this van didn't have flexfuel?
nice buy.

I'd smear some JB cold weld on that vavle cover.

I was going to sugest boat engine fogging of to preserve the cylinder walls never heard of tranny fuild for this (TF is diffenently cheaper).

as far as HP #s compared to the LQ4 maybe its lower because of the LY6 has the cluch fan.

I see an Atlanta, GA area code phone # on the van is this auction in the Atlanta area?

good luck on the build

How to know you're going to have a bad day.
1- Your van gets hit by an airplane.
2- See number one, nothing beats that.

Co-part auctions are all over the country. I inspected and bid on several others before scoring this and there are many crappy deals. I bought the van in Austell, Ga online and picked it up locally. I am in Smyrna. The valve cover has a hole in it, but I'll look at it again. I heard a rumor that 09s have a steel crank.

Default copart

I've been looking over the copart web site.

?1.a regular person can only bid and purchase parts cars?

?2. you must be a car dealer or have some special buying linsence to purchase the salvaged titled cars?

? are you in the car bussiness?

Cool build. I have been wanting to do an LY6 in my 74 Firebird and I started piecing things together and buying some parts before I bought my engine. Now I have found a pretty good deal on an LQ4, so I am thinking about getting rid of my Comp Cams VVT cam and phaser. PM me if you want to buy it, per their specs, it is the more aggressive VVT cam and is optimized for ported heads, but makes good power on the stock L92's. Either way, I will be following along closely. Have you figured out your accessory drive yet? I have a stock 98-02 Fbody setup and if I stick with an LY6, I will have to run spacers (another reason, I may go with an LQ4 for now, I could get my car on the street cheaper with my budget)

1) anything they sell

2) no

3) no, sort of

I do buy and sell cars for fun at a slow pace. I am not a dealer and you don't need to be a dealer to bid at copart. Be careful, they have many hidden fees. They don't really disclose them. I won the bid for this van at $750. The fees and sales tax added up to $300. If you want to bid over $1500 you have to pay a deposit with credit card. The correct website is www.copart.com I am not advocating as a saw many a bad deal. I think I got lucky, but like with anything if you wait long enough you can find a good deal.

Careful here, this doesn't apply to everyone, everywhere. We have a copart auction just a few miles from here. You have to be licenced (dealer, salvage, disassembler...) to buy from them. Its probably a state regulation that has nothing to do with copart, I'm not 100% sure.

I'm thinking carshop 1 inch back plates, mast oil pan, dynatech headers, quick bracket and maybe raptor-x crossmember.

Even with a free driveline, without fab skills, a hood not closing and an oil pan dragging on the ground, this is not a cheap swap.

True, but the end result will be well worth it. Isn't it amazing how fast you can take a running driving car and make it immobile, yet it takes so long to get them running again?

I'm thinking about ditching vvt. I've put in several calls to Mast and they can't really help with tuning their cam unless you buy their ECM. Then, their ECM won't control my 4l80e. I called Vengeance racing and they'll have me up and running with a proven LS3 cam combo in no time and no wasted time on the dyno. There are no question marks if I use these guys.

Good bye old friend. I hope you rust in piece knowing that your heart lives on and that some man may park you down by the river and call you home.

Van parts and van sold for $740. Old engine trans and parts sold for $1300. Barely puts a dent in the price of this swap. It doesn't help that I'm completely rebuilding the front end, suspension, steering and brakes. The last thing I want is for 500hp to put me in the wall. Pictures of progress coming soon....

Default Intake and MAF sensor?

The van LY6 maf seems small compared to the throttle body. It is only about 75mm on the inside. Does someone make a tube where I can use an ls3 Maf?

Yes there are tubes for LS3 MAFs. Look in the Gen IV External sub forum for info. You'll need to tune the ECU for that MAF. I'm not sure about wiring. *EDIT* Here is a link: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...vette-maf.html

Also I think the truck LY6 MAFs are 85mm, but I'm not certain.

I am using qwik bracket to relocate alternator and ps pump and purchased their recommended type 2 power steering pump from agr to match the agr racing box I purchased. I will have much more info on the rest of the work I'm doing on the car soon.

I don't know how to measure throttle bodies and mafs, but would like to. The inside diameter of my 2009 LY6 van maf is about 3 inches which is about 75mm. Certainly not 85mm. It seems smallish compared to the throttle body. I will study up and have more questions later. Thanks again.

Default mounts

After reading several threads here and getting plenty of help through pms, I decided to go with car shop 1 inch back plates, a Performance Automotive Transmission Center PATC Raptor X crossmember and Dynatech headers. Bandit, you'll be happy to know I ordered the autokraft oil pan.

I have read bad things about the energy suspension motor mounts, but I will try them anyway. I have the tall and narrow style frame stands. I have solid mounts too, but I want to give these a try: ( energy suspension part 3.1117G )

They line up great compared to the stock style mounts on the carshop plates. They are off by 1/8 inch vertical from this angle. Height is perfect. The car shop plates have a cut out allowing for the dimple in the energy suspension backing plate so that they mount flush. This is the dimple and the cut out.

The PATC crossmember is more impressive than the picture from their website implies. They wanted to sell me a 60 dollar mount. I hope to use this energy suspension 3.1108G mount. It works with the 4L80e and crossmember and costs $21.

Let me know how things work out and please take some pictures of the fabrication quality. I'm hoping Santa drops one off for me in a few weeks.
