Every once in a while, I unwrap a toy and it resets my expectations. Today just may be one of those days. I received my Circle D Billet 245mm 2b stall converter.

This converter is supposed to drive tight around town and rock n' roll when the occasion calls for it. The workmanship is inspiring.

That final piece of the puzzle should be here soon. Mast said they shipped the pan today.

Today, I ordered one of these, just to make sure I got the last drop out of this combo.

Dont torque that pan down fully till you have checked the tie-rod clearance in the circled areas....I got a feeling.

Fuel Lines. If you look back through the thread there are some better pictures of them.

I went to the local 1/8th mile drag strip tonight to get a "before the swap" time. It ran exactly what I expected. 10.50s at 64 MPH with a blistering 2.28 60'.
I can't wait to experience the transformation with the new motor and transmission.

Are you done yet??!! My 65 Lark will be making the transition from sideyard storage to the garage here in the next week or 2. Currently looking for a 6.0l to mate up to the t56 i have in the garage.

LOL. Are we there yet?

I am covered up with work. If all goes well maybe in two weeks or so I will have time to dedicate to the swap.

I thought I too had ordered the last piece of my puzzle as well a long time ago but 3 years later it has snowballed into one of those "while im here or doing this I might as well change this or upgrade that as well type of things" and I find myself still ordering items or needing something else, as they say they these cars are never truly finished to ones liking. Either way good luck with the install

243s on an LQ9 is 10.9:1 In essence, it becomes an iron block LS2 with some serious flow.

Intake 313 cfm
Exhaust 220 cfm

Speedtigger I am doing alot of the same parts into my notch build. I have a qustion about the edlebrock fuel pump your using, why the regulator if it comes internally regulated from edlbrock to 6.5 lbs. In theroy it should run just about perfect with out a regulator? Im just trying to keep it simple is all and if I can delete something I will. I had a 67 Skylark convertable in highschool, very cool cars and great for cruising.

You don't have to have a return line or an external regulator. I chose to do it for 2 reasons.
1. Return systems keep the fuel in the line fresh and will keep the fuel cooler to eliminate the possibility of vapor lock in the hot Florida summers.
2. Return systems can deliver more fuel. The reason is the regulator is next to the carb. This allows me to turn the internal regulator inside the pump up to maximum. So, the pump will be able to raise the entire line pressure to deliver more fuel through the same sized fuel line at peak demand.

Oh, and one more potential benefit. If I ever decide to go fuel injection, the return line is already plumbed.

Default It begins................

The swap has begun. Here are some progress pictures. One pre-surgery. A couple on the lift while I was getting all the stuff underneath. A photo of the old mandrel bent 2 1/2" exhaust. And, a couple with the nose off.

The motor is completely ready to come out, but it was getting late. So I will do this Thursday and get on with the business of a whole lotta' de-greasing.

Where did you get the fancy 2 post lift? I slide around on my garage floor with a floor jack!

Are you going to swap front springs? The reason I ask is because my LQ9 seems to actually be lighter than my all cast iron 231 v6 ( I think it had a cast iron intake too).

I am going to see how it sits once it is done. If it is high in the front, I will use v-6 springs and cut them to height if necessary.

The old 300 is out and the frame and undercarriage have been pressure cleaned. Nearly 50 years of a leaky engine sure can build up some crud!

One very reliable and very leaky Buick 300" motor for sale..............

I am jealous reading your thread. I have been working 60-72 hours a week since my Mast pan arrived. It will probably be another 2 weeks before I can try and finish my install.

I am curious to see how you end up with motor mount/frame stand location and tranny tunnel clearance issues. That is where I currently have ran into issues. I would like to see a pic of firewall clearance to head(s) after you get it positioned where you want it.

Keep the post and pics coming, they are appreciated.

I have been thinking about colors ever since I purchased this car last year. Even though the Black has really grown on me. I really love this color and I think the car would look dynomite wearing it:
