Default 69 camaro SS with LS/T56

I have been a member here on ls1 for a while now trying to figure out what and how to do my swap. Imp also a member on other popular forums like team camaro and Pro Touring.com. I think this would be the best place to start my official thread on my swap. It kind of turned from a swap into a build because I’m sure you guys know how much has to be changed from a 40 year old car technology.
My car is a 69 Camaro SS. I don’t know if it’s real or not because the trim tag was missing when I got the car in Jan 09. It does not mater to me if it’s real or not, because I wanted this car since I was 18. Anyways, the car had a 383 stroker with a weiand supercharger, 4 speed Muncie M21, date code 68(for sale), 12 bolt with posi and 3.73 gears. Emerald green (Viper color) with a white hockey stripe. Front disc and drum rear manual brakes.
I did a lot of engine and brake improvements before one day my oil pressure dropped, before I can get home, my engine started making crazy noises. Originally, I was going to build a forged 383 and drop it in. But then I decided to go LS. I really like the way my car looked because it had that old school muscle car look with the scoop coming out of the hood. Things are different now because I have two kids. I want my car to be safe and reliable first, and fast second. Third, I want my car to look old school with modern drive train.
Here is the plan (not carved in stone) if you have concerns or ideas please let me know.
LS engine with T56
Picked up a 5.3 with acc. and harness. No ECM or tranny. I picked up LS1 accessories. I want to put an ls6 intake setup with a nice cam.
I will be using the Elderbrock headers and engine mounts. I ordered the hooker headers and mounts but ended up sending them back. I like to thank Summit for giving me a full refund and the $36 it cost me to send it back, great service. I did not like the black painted headers. The Eldebrock are stainless and have a better heat coating. I took pics of the hookers if any one needs to see it.
I’m also doing the ls1 brakes all around and using my manual wilwood MC.
I will need a lot of help because i am an artist and not a mechanic. So please bear with me with all the new bee questions. I will like to thank you guys in advance for all the help and input.
Here are some pics to get this thing going. I’m a visual person so I will be taking lots of picks. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Also, please excuse my grammar and spelling. hehe

This is what it looks like now
I will be doing some suspension upgrades while the engine is out. It was not in the budget, but it has be done. Safety first. I will also upgrade my steering box to the 3rd gen box. Ls1 brakes all around with 17" wheels and tires.
This will be going kind of slow because i am on a very tight budget. Selling some of my parts will be funding most of the new parts. I will be doing most of the work with the help of my brother.

You have some great pictures of one of the most sought after muscle cars - the '69 Camaro. Sounds like you will do it justice with the new drivetrain. Spend some time reading on here - you should be able to learn everything you need for this convertion right off this site. I may follow your lead on the steering upgrade. Please post good details on that. Good luck, and don't let it overwhelm you. It takes time - and monies.

Got a lot of stuff done but have not had the chance to post anything yet.
I will post some update pics soon. Here is a little rendering I did in photoshop just to show what it will look like till i get some nice aluminum wheels. Right now I just want to get the car running and cant spend 2k on wheels and tires.

The engine will be a 5.3 with ls6 cam and springs, ls6 intake, ls1 accessories (no AC) elderbrock lt headers, maybe lh8 pan or retroLSX pan. Not sure on the harness yet. Maybe go with the Speartech one for the LS1/T56. I have the harness from the 5.3 but do not want to use it because its to bulky.
After the car is running, i want to find a 6.0 that i can build.

Ok, here are some update pics. Things are going kind of slow right now because of limited funds. Need to sell some of my old parts to start building the engine. I will have more pictures soon. Hopefully i will get to test fit the engine and t56 within the next couple of weeks.

Steve-
I have not gotten that far. But i do have some info and have to look for it in my links. I will post it when i find it. When i did my research, i found out that the 4th gen car and trucks have the same fitings as the 3rd gen cars. I just dont know how the lines would fit or look on first gens.
I think Im going to build my own lines with braded ss lines and fittings like these.

If anyone has this info, please feel free to post up the links or info on my thread.

You need drum spindles and hubs, which have and you need the brackets that bolts onto the spindle. You have to have some machine work done to the spindles and hubs to make it work. I also used the Kore3 lines.
