2008 5.3 into 66 chevelle Just beginning this project. Picked up a 2008 5.3 vortec with 32k miles that was in a Silverado 1500. Engine looks great but the harness was hacked up. Looking for some guidance on the following:
-How can I identify the engine w/o the VIN...it has 243 heads, 12598301 on the back and C7G514810 on the rear of the block with D07 040 06: 41 also engraved. Engine is an aluminum block....have not had much luck in deciphering the codes.
-Since the harness is hacked, are there any other years of harness that would work for a standalone conversion (I may be in over my head, but wanted to give it a try)
-I do not have the PCM, so what should I be looking for? E38? Any other years of PCM's that will work?
-What do I need for the Drive by Wire hook up? I read somewhere that the gas pedal and the PCM had to match, but this is all new to me.
Lots of questions...I have done a lot of work on the older SBC's, but the Vortec is new to me!!!
