Default Does it matter where I put the oil pressure sending unit?

I am thinking about putting my oil pressure sending unit on the oil block-off plate located on the oil pan, above the oil filter. If I put the gauge sending unit there, would it give me a different reading than if I were to put it in the stock location behind the intake manifold?

The oil pressure sending unit I have to use is pretty bulky, and doesn't fit well behind the intake manifold. It interferes with my fuel lines and vacuum hose. I have an elongated 90* fitting on there, and it fits... barely, but I still don't like it there.

I am running the oil pressure gauge sender there also.. I don't think it will be much of a differents, maybe a few lbs.. I run the Chevelle idiot light sender off the top port.. so, I have a Idiot light and a pressure gauge.

You many not notice the pressure dropping, but once the light comes on, you will..

Given the incompressible nature of oil the pressure should be constant throughout the motor for most intents and purposes. I'm running my mech gauge from there as well.

Awesome, thanks for the info guys. I am going to run an oil pressure switch up behind the manifold as well. It fits much better there than the fat gauge sending unit I have.
