Default reprogramming ecm same as tuning?

Hello,

Doing an ls1 swap into an old gm.

I plan on dumping one set of o2 sensors and the vats key. I cant think of anything else I would not use, maybe the oil level switch in the pan maybe.

would I get a tuner for this or would I need the ecm reprogrammed? Are they the same thing?

Could I hurt my engine after the tuning by running it without only a set of headers?

I would like to run my engine for an hour or so before I put my body on.

thanks in advance.

Default

it's the same thing though usually a program is through dealership and is factory programming and updates. and 'tuning' is taking the ecm to limits not designed by the engineers or emissions guys.

either way, someone's going in and changing the programming so you can safely use either term.
