Default Pro Street 87' Mazda RX-7

Hey guys I decided to make a thread to update my progress and hopefully answer some questions I have. Been searching and researching on tech for a while and have really learned alot. The car is an 87' rx7 that has been backhalfed with a 9" ford and ladderbars.

I bought a LQ4 from a van and plan to run it stock via a carburator. I'm hoping this powerplant will be comparable to the 406sbc I had in the car before.

I have ambitions of setting the stock long block n/a record but I have had issues finding such a thread. The car is pretty light (2250) with a 4.56 gear and 295/65/15s out back. I'm hoping I will be at least close.

The only stock block record that I'm aware of is boosted, which is a 1st gen RX7.

Nice car, BTW, good luck with the performance goals.

Did you buy that nose as a 1 Piece, or make it yourself? Mine's got an add on kit, which I am not super fond of, the nose is passible though.

The bumper came from California via ebay. i think it was designd for wide style front fenders. i was expecting it to bolt righ up with minimal body filler. it was way off! about 4-5" too wide at the front of the wheel wells on each side. it was awful. i had to cut it up and cut my fenders then use counter sunk bolts to attatch the bumper to the brackets i welded on my fenders. hers a few pics, wish i woul hve got some before i started cutting the bumper!

My G/F doing the body ork.... i dont have the patience for the body filler.

Norotors.com in the drag racing section has a good list going, not all are lsx based swaps however. Guy that goes by skinnies went 8.9x with a basically stock 5.3 on boost. I went 9.68 on a h/c/i ls2 with a 100 shot and you're a good bit lighter then me.

Update: fired this thing up this week. Sounds real good. I decided to go blowthru turbo. Motor is bone stock 2006 lq4. Didn't even change the pan. Stainless 2.5" up pipes welded to truck manifolds. Turbo is a Garret TA51 (71mm). 4" open downpipe exits behind starter. Large intercooler and 4" charge pipe. Still need to finish up a few things and get the carb setup for boost.dum
