What material is the sway bar made from? Is it heat treated? Are those mandrel bends?

In regards to information on our tubular swaybars, we will either use a 1020 DOM (drawn over mandrel), or a 4130 Chrome Moly that is hardened before bending depending on which application. The 1020 DOM material is more popular to use because of its cost. The 4130 material does not add any stiffness to the swaybar, but can be a benefit on smaller diameter, thinner wall swaybars. But, for the little added performance, 4130 material is double the cost for the material and sees no real benefit on a large diameter bar.

The bending process for our swaybars is done on a CNC tube bending machine. This machine uses specific OD (diameter) dies with an assigned bend radius.

Heat treating swaybars after bending is not an option as this process will change the bend profile.

I hope this information has helped in understanding on how our swaybar production works.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
