Default TH400 gurus, school a ford guy.

I'm trying to figure out which TH400 to buy for my fox LS swap.
I have AJE's TH400 swap cross member and I'm seeing 3 different tail shaft lengths offered by most transmission vendors.
NOW, my question is; does the tail shaft length make any difference to where it will mount up at the cross member or is this difference only going to effect my drive shaft length??

Thanks guys

i dont think it will effect the mounting, but your drive shaft will have to be a differnent length

Searching is your friend... I used "GM Transmission Dimensions"

First result of previous search supplied a handy chart of the most popular swappable GM RWD automatic transmissions from a very reputable source...

...But act now you you get a special bonus! For the price of a single search you also get complete dimensions of most Ford and Chrysler transmissions as well - ABSOLUTELY FREE! That's right, not just GM transmission information but Ford and Chrysler right at your fingertips... Here's how to order.

Sorry if I'm a bit cynical, it's late and I should be sleeping but can't.

Ya, thanks? I'm aware of the dimensions. Did you read my actual question?
I googled it first, couldn't find a straight answer to my question, so thought I'd ask here. Go take a nap.

I did read your original post - if you look at the information I suggested closely you will see that for the three tailshaft options they have the mount locations listed as well.

TH400
C tailshaft 26 15/16
D tailshaft 27 15/16
13" tailshaft 27 21/32

If memory serves me correctly the tailshaft options are 6", 9" and 13".

Hope this helps.

I found someone else that didn't question this as they should have and after buying a 9" tail TH400, they learned the ward way that the AJE cross member they bought was for a 6". So, I need a 6" tail.
