Default I need an aluminum 5100cc LS

What is the best/lightest way to obtain an aluminum LS motor that does not exceed 5100cc? (roughly 5.0-5.1 liters)

Should I destroke an aluminum 5.3?

Are there any aluminum 4.8 liters that were ever made? How about boring or stroking one of those?

Thanks for the help. The motor is going in an f-body built for C-prepared

4.8 crank in an aluminum 5.3 block will give you an aluminum 4.8.. then bore it to desired displacement.. to get to 5.1 your looking at sleeving the block.

.060" will only get you to 4961cc's (or ~303 C.I.)

You can get exactly what you need by putting a 4.8 crank into a 5.7 engine.

3.26 stroke and a 3.898 bore = 5.098 litres (311 cu in.)

a few resources for ya:

You'll also need the 4.8 rods as well; they are longer than the 5.3, 5.7, & 6.0 rods assuming you use stock pistons. Re-balance the assembly.

Anybody have an info on how much abuse the 4.8 crank can take? I know LS1 and 5.3 cranks are fairly proven to 800hp or more but I guess this also depends on how much power he is planning to make.

The 4.8 crank should be able to handle a lot, it has more journal overlap than the 3.622" stroke cranks. I'm pretty sure a LS1 crank has lived at 1800hp in Harlan's car.

if you believe Handzel's book, W2W made over 600hp with a turbo.
