I went efi, and also used a factory 4.6 kmember, but I will try to give you some figures.

I spent $500 after tax on a complete 2004 5.3, 50k miles. (...but I converted all the accessories to f-body, and added an ls6 intake)

My complete fuel system was like $450 I think. This includes pump, vette filter, -6an lines, fittings, etc.

I got a junkyard 4l80e to try for $80. Converter I bought used w/ low miles for $450.

**** will add up faster than you know lol. Are you going to use the truck oil pan? I am, but w/ my adapter plates on the motor mounts, it sits a little higher than just dropping it in. What headers are you going to use? I am using bbk 351w swap l/t's w/ ls1 flanges.

Ive spent upwards of $9000 on my swap. but ive done a lot of other things to my car while swapping. I'd say to do it correctly you wont get out for under $4000-$5000 minimum.

I used 4.6l mounts, and made an adapter plate that goes in between the mounts and the block.

I'll have about 8000 in my car when its done, but I completely redid the suspension. That includes the price of the car also.

I'll have 6-7k in my swap, but I bought all new swap parts and a low mile 01 SS pullout that came with 42lb injectors, T-rex cam and rebuilt heads for 3k complete with harness and everything needed to run.

Default just the motor

I'm getting ready to start mine and I am budgeting $1200 for just the 6.0 motor! If you can find one for $300 - $500 you must have a connection somewhere.

For a 6.0, it will be harder to find a deal like that, but I paid 500 after tax on my low mileage 5.3 at a salvage yard.

Its easy to make a list with prices, but it adds up way faster then you expect.

My original budget was $5000. Once I found a nice roller and low mileage engine and trans had spent that budget. So i bumped it to $7000. Then I decided to do a 5 lug swap with all new brakelines and hoses, of course I needed new rims/tires and I still hadnt even touched the engine. Then I decided to have the trans built up and added a TSP 228r cam w/all the accessories needed. I have all my receipts but havent added them up. Now that I put some thought into it I've probably got $11k-$12k in the car. I still have to get the exhaust done and the crossmember modified to fit then a dyno tune. As you can see i tripled my budget lol. The wife was none to pleased either hahaha
