Default 5.3/LM7 Cam for Porsche 944

I'm going to swap a LM7 into my Porsche 944 but first I want to work on the engine. I want to cam it but I want to get the right cam. Should I get something with low end or high end? The car weights 2,800 lbs and I am under 200 so the car has to lug 3000 lbs. Any suggestions on a cam? It will be a daily driver but I don't mind a loopy idle. Thanks.

I have no valuable information for you, but good luck on your build. I really like 944's especially when they're lsx powered.

Thanks. Yeah I love the car and it handles so nice but I would love to put a thumping V8 in it.

Go to Rennlist.com and search for LS swaps. There are several threads where members have lengthy discussions on cam specs and expected power outputs. One of the members posted the card for his cam and where he got it. The dyno for that car was 390HP on stock 241 heads IIRC. The screen name is TonyG.

I stuffed a patriot cam in my 5.3, so i will be able to give some insight to how it runs on motor by this week i hope. Lacking belt, hose, plugs, all the small stuff that will add up quick.

It is 225/229@.050 and .582/.589 lift on a 114 LSA, i yanked the 243 heads for my 89 and installed fresh 317s, the 5.3 is a GEN IV with flat tops so compression will be good enough. This is in my 86 TA, so weight is probably 3300?
