96 Impala SS & LY6 + 4L80E
Well I started back up my Impala build, It has been sleeping for 6 months or so!
I went down to my local junk yard the other day and found a 2007 LY6 with 10K on it for $550, I think I stole it!
I will be mating this up with a 4L80E & TCM out of a 06-09 Express van.
The LY6 came out of a 2007 Silverado 2500 with a 6L90E 6-Speed, and those have the TCM inside them.
I would like to do a 6-speed, but they are to expensive for me, maybe later down the road!
Here is some pics of the frame:
Here is one of the LY6 still in the donner truck
I will be posting updates & pics as the project progresses
Thanks

One that doesn't know what the hell they have or where to find it!
The engine wasn't even in there computer database!. I also have my eye on a 01 4.8 Vortec (for my 92 Silverado 2wd) that they don't know exist! I might really try to steal this one.
The Junkyard just got bought out & converting over to "you pick it", and every thing is all messed up right now!
I don't see any more 07 or new velichles right now though, so I think I just got lucky! Then again I haven't picked the motor up yet, so I don't know what I really have till then!
But then again the L92 heads are worth at least what I paid for it!
I will be down there this week to get it, and will look for some more good deals!, and let you know!
pmgm:
I live in Sioux City, IA
The junkyard is
A1 Salvage
441 Dixon Path
South Sioux City, NE 68776-5300
(402) 494-4886
You can call them, but I know they can't really tell you what they really have!

Looking good so far. I'm pulling mine back out in the next month or so, depending on when the parts arrive. POR-15'ing ALOT of stuff, rebuilding the front suspension, front brakes, putting on my fabricated oil pan, line loc, 4L60E w/transbrake & 3200 stall, etc. gonna be fun, fun, fun when its done, done, done!!!
Oh and if you need one, I'll have a modified F-Body oil pan from Street & Performance for sale once I put my new one on. Hit me up if you need it.

Thanks for the complement, your car gave me inspiration to do my build!
Great!!! B-body Info over on Impala SS Forums!!!
I talked to Street & Performance the other day, and they said they where making a new pan for the B-body & should be out in a couple months!
I think he said it would be in the $400 range!, kinda expensive if you ask me, but thats custom pricing for ya!
I PM you on the oil pan
Thanks

Well I finally got my motor today!
Here some pic's
I will tear it down tonight and post some more pic's.
They have a 01 4.8 full lift out for $525.00, but don't know the mileage! I think I will buy it also, and swap it in my 92 silverado, the 5.7 tbi with 240,000 miles is starting to go out in it.
