That does not surprise me about JTR. There is no release date on the kit and I was trying to get theirs, but they give you absolutely no hint of when it is coming out. Very frustrating.

The Samberg kit has good and bad aspects, with a lot more of the good. The good is the motor placement is low and far back to the firewall. The headers are also close to the underside of the car so they do not hang low causing scraping issues. The headers and mounts make everything easy to work on, and the motor/headers clear the steering shaft and brake booster. The only one bad thing is the clearance of the passenger side header. It would not clear the subframe, so it had to be clearanced. You can sort of see how close it is here:

And here is another example on another E36 M3. This car was used for the design of the kit and they had to dent one runner to clear the subframe. That LSX puts down 543whp so I don't think it hurts anything!!

What did you use to get your original ls1 long block so clean? Im doing the same swap but in an E30 M3...even less room.

Where did you get output flange on the gearbox that bolts to the flex disc?

With a little rework of the sub frame tube wouldn't have to ding up a nice header. I would redo both sides to match so they looked the same.

I'm in the planning stages of my swap. Don't even have car yet. Planning
a E36 convertible. Still undecided on T56 or 4L60E.

Anyone have a nice rust free 99 M3 convert for sale cheap?

I have very nicely built LS1 on the engine stand screaming to be installed.

Degreaser, brush, and elbow grease

It is the output shaft for the GTO T56 setup. Like this one here:

Yes, something Samberg should have done from the beginning! Good luck with your swap. I would consider selling my M3 if I got a good offer.

Do you know if the yoke will fit on a 2001 t56 Camaro transmission?

I am sure someone on this site could tell you for sure.

I used a GTO T56, so I can't be certain, but I would think it would work on a Camaro trans.

I used the GTO flex disk, and shortened the OEM E36 driveshaft.

Looking at the dyno sheets - did you do any modifications to the LS1 and the LS3?

LS1 had LS6 intake, Texas Speed 228R cam with dual springs, and Texas Speed mail in tune.

LS3 has a Pat G. spec'd 226/234 cam, dual springs, and ported intake with F.A.S.T. 92mm TB, and dyno tune by Next Level Performance.

Headers and exhaust stayed the same on both motors, with primaries of 1 3/4".

Is it RWHP?

How much faster is it with the LS3?

What kind of clutch set-up do you use?

On the Samberg site there is steering shaft for the LS swap. Did you use it?
What is it's purpose? more clearance for the headers?

Yes, RWHP. A huge difference in feel between the LS3 and LS1. Ram 6-puck clutch/pressure plate/lightened flywheel.

Yes, the OEM BMW shaft is wider and would hit the header runners. The new steering shaft gives a more connected, positive feel than OEM.

No problem. A convertible would be cool! Not many vert swaps out there.
