Default Wire harness

Hi guys, I need help with the wire harness on the LQ4 I just got. My plan is to put it in my rock crawler with a turbo 350 Trans. I know I can buy a wire harness already done but I'm trying to do it the cheap way first with the harness and computer that came with the engine. The question I have is what do I have to cut up? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks guys.

Hey guys, thank you very much for the links you posted! They will be helpful. The wire harness and computer was with the engine, its a 04. Please tell me if this sounds right to you guys. I got to pull the pins for the things I'm not going to use, like the electronic transmission since I'm going to use a turbo 350 that I have?

Correct, for starters.....and also anything emission related, air pump, egr, evap solenoid etc......you'll also need to have these items switched "no report" in the tune file, your tuner can do that for you....

If your just trying to get it running and dont care about how it looks then you should be able to just leave the pins and wires for the stuff you wont need and turn them to "no report" in the tune as stated above.

If they are set to no report then it doesnt matter if you have wires everywhere because your computer wont know. It just wont look clean.

If your not comfortable with wiring but still need to do it on the cheap for a while until you get money for a swap harness then I would just leave it as is and turn the stuff off in the tune.

Thanks again, I'm glad I came across this website. You guys are very helpful! One more question what is the best way to program the computer? What I mean is, what is a good tuner or is there some program I can put in my laptop an do it that way? As you can tell I'm new to the LS style engine. Im use to the old school chevy's with a couple wires to get it running. Thanks again guys.

You can send it to Frost, he is a sponsor here, and very qualified to put a good mail order tune on your PCM, enough to get you to a dyno....

HP Tuners, EFI live etc are software suites designed to tune the PCM. They run from around 400 to 600 or so, depending on what you plan to do with them.
