Default 85 Chevy Truck with 390ci iron stroker

This technically isn't a real build thread yet, just a precusor to what is coming when I return from Afghanistan. I got the truck in late October '09 with no motor, old faded paint, ugly interior, no motor or trans and some minor body damage.
Humble beginnings:

How she sits today:

I put the 305 that it came with in it along with a th350 w/shift kit. I took it to the strip once for ***** and giggles and it was slow to say the least. 17.69 at 73.86 mph. Little embarassing to say the least.

I won't be so reluctant to take it to the strip once I get back from Afghanistan. I have a 2004 LQ4 6.0L that I am stroking to 390" using an AES forged bottom end with dish pistons. I had a custom cam spec'd by Patrick G, 230/234 .600”/.602” 111LSA +4 advance. I will keep the top end pretty stock for now and slowly add parts. I will eventually put a turbo on it when I have the $$$. I am hoping to have at least 375-400 rwhp N/A.
New Heart:

I am also building a 9" with Strange Nodular N center, 35 spline detroit, 3.50s and moser axles.

I will keep ya'll updated with pcitures and parts ordering.

Sounds like a good plan! I am in the process of swapping a 5.3L into my 1981 C10. A decent sized snail will make its way in mine too!

Good luck and keep us updated!
