You can swap the spring and regulator out of the old pump and put it in the LS pump. I just did this on my 72 Olds. It also transferrs over the inverted flair fitting so you can use the Iroc power steering hose.

So does that mean it is too high of pressure? I am planning on using my LS PS pump on my 81 C10 truck, but I dont have the old pump anymore. Do you think the pressure difference is enough that I need to worry myself with buying a spring and regulator?
I was planning on just switching hoses and being on my way!

other than the fittings, i don't think you have to do anything. I have a 3rd gen ws6 box on my 69 camaro and it works fine w/my 5.3. I am running the corvette accy system.

I am using the stock LS1 F-Body pump on my stock Chevelle box. it work ok, but every once in a while I would get a small lock up under throttle and while turning (auto-x). I was about to start digging into changing the pressure valves and all.

But I put a cooler on the return line and the lock up disappeared. I would recommend trying a cooler to everyone.. 1200+ psi creates a lot of Heat !.

Stock LS1 pump and cooler on my 83 malibu wagon with about 10k miles, works great and it's super easy to steer with all that pressure.
