Default 82 Fox Body 5.3 swap

Here is my fox I picked up to do a 5.3L/TH400 swap. The build wont start until I get back in the states, from what i was told the car has a Dana rearend and is already pretty much stripped out for a track car. I know it needs a bunch of work since it is pretty rough but the car was free. Can anyone chime in on what type of rear end is in this and will it be ideal for drag racing?

Free Parts (my father owns a salvage yard in south carolina so the big ticket items and odds and ends that nickle and dime ya will be free )

5.3L from 01 Silverado
TH400

Purchased Parts as of now

AJE K member
AJE TH400 Crossmember
AJE LS motor Mounts
Dynatech LS Swap headers
Misc AN fittings and hose
Edelbrock Victor Jr.
MSD 6010
AutoMeter Wideband
Summit Racing Fuel Pump
Fuel Pressure regulator

Parts needed (all i can think of right now...)

Holley 750 DP
Slicks
Shifter and cable

Looks like all stock suspension that will have to be addressed, axle tubes and torque boxes need to be welded up, subframe connectors, you have a ton of work ahead of you. Might consider finding a roller thats been setup already for 1500-2k itll be well worth the money.

I paid 2k for mine(1400 after i sold parts i didnt need it came with. that was for a 93 coupe no rust at all, 4.10s, weld draglites with good slicks and skinnies, comp eng drag shocks, tubular kmember, trickflow girdle, ds safety loop, decent interior. i have a build thread on it.

Looks like a Dana 44, seems silly considering the over abundance of 8.8's.

If dad owns a junkyard can you put in a 6.0? I mean if all you are doing is racing the thing get the bigger cube motor im thinking. So what if it needs work it was a free car, you obviously know it needs work enjoy it. Love the florescent green "Cobra Stang" on the back of the car from the early 90's

Well, my first choice was the 6.0L but he only has a few of those. He has an abundance of 5.3's so thats what im getting right now, if it blows then ill just get another one.

not to mention the fact that the 8.8 is way stronger than a d44

since that is a 82 it had the 7.5 in it so the previous owner didn't think bout the 8.8 yet

Looks like a good start, your 4cyl notch looks exactly like the one I just got down to the colors. Good luck with the build.

gotta run it up there since im doing a truck manifold build... i need a cowl hood anyways to fit the throttle body and carb hat so ill just get a cowl big enough to squeeze the alternator under....
