T56 does not seem to fit LQ4 - help
My 98 LS1/T56 motor blew up... I swapped in a 6.0l out of a 2005 GMC Sierra. It seems to me that where the t56 trans shaft slides indo the crank( after the teeth on clutch) that the shafdt bottoms out....... It seems that the shaft is to long, or is something just not lining up....Everyone ive talkd to and everythng ive read says its a directg fit and swap, minus the accesories.....can anybody help feel frre to inbox me or help me here, i need to get the car from hell back on the road.....

Pilot Bearing
Check your pilot bearing I believe the Fbody and the trucks use different styles of pilot bearings, the truck one sits in a different register in the crank and is larger in size, you need the Fbody pilot bearing which sits in a register further inside the crank.

Correct Bolts
Don't forget you are going to need the correct flywheel mounting bolts after you remove the spacer those bolts will be too long, if you have the old bolts from your first motor those will be the correct bolts.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but thats the oddball extended crankshaft for the very early 6.0's. You cant remove that spacer, the crank has to come out. If someone said they pulled that from an 05, they're lying. The crank spacer/adapter is aluminum. Your pic shows rust so its part of the crank itself

Ouch, that sucks. I have a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD LQ-4 and had no issues. Had the 4L80E trans, and the spacer was part of the flexplate. Poped my pilot bearing in and no issues.

Glad I'm seeing this...had no idea of spacer issue. Not trying to hijack, but think my ??s on point. Can you be more precise, is the spacer the part that the bolts thread into or the piece on the ID? How does one pull this spacer off? See my pics below, engine is 2010 6.0 L96.
Also, I have my HD pilot bearing that came with the new LS7 clutch I'm putting in and I noticed it has two different surfaces. I assume you want the solid side out to tap in with large socket?
Thx!
