Yes. I would find a better Cam..the LS2 Cam will NOT work without the LS2 Timing Cover , Sensor, & Gear.

Using the ls2 heads will lower your compression ratio a bit i believe. the 5.3's only had a 61cc chamber.

So is it even worth the hassle to use the ls2 heads with a mild cam

not really, if you really want better heads on your 5.3, go find some 243 or 799 casting heads they are identical to ls6 heads the ones on the trucks have different valves but still perform great. Sell the ls2 heads and cam, you can't use that anyway. find a used Ls6 cam and springs and you will have a good running low budget 5.3 that can make 380 hp

Like said you cant use the cam with out a bunch of other parts, which makes it completely not worth it.

I would sell the heads too.

I think a 4.8/5.3 head has a 59cc chamber.

You dont have a regular 5.3 like his 99 5.3. Yours is a L33 and has flat top pistons and 799 heads stock.

His 5.3 has dished pistons.

ahhh yes good point, I was pretty sure the 6.0 Ls2 had bigger chambers I should have done my homework.... ok well if he has dished pistons keep the 243/799 heads and put a turbo on it to compensate for the loss in compression...lol
