'84 Silverado LQ9 Conversion
Hey guys, figure I would start my Conversion thread.. I have an '84 Silverado thats pretty much fully restored that I'm doing an LQ9 conversion. Haven't decided on transmissions yet, so feel free to chirp in and give me your two cents. I currently am in college and my projects back at home so I am getting some help from my dad while I'm down here. I just sold my 350 and 700R4 for 950, IDK if thats a good deal but thats what I got lol.. Since I am a broke college student, that 950 is all I have right now, so that is going to be a major factor on what trans I get and also how long this little project will take. lol So I guess I'm gonna try to through up some current pics of it, if I can figure it out.

If you are hard up for cash, get a 5.3L and convert it to carb, and use the MSD box to light it off. If you want some mileage try to get a 4L60E to work, or adapt a TH350. Try to get the motor and trans together as a combo.

Its 4x4 right? Im doing a 5.3, 4l60e into a 75 4x4.. U gotta change the output shaft and buy an adapter to go from 6 bolt to 4 to bolt to the older transfer case. Tranny Id use the stock 700r4 and just tune out all the tranny stuff. Save tons of money that way.

I just did an 87 4x4 with a 5.3 mated up to the stock th400 and np208 transfer case. I just scored a free 4l80 so I think that will be the next part of my project, the 4l80 I have is a 2wd unit, once the tailshaft comes off it appears that the stock np208 will mount up to it, I just may have to shorten the output shaft. The 400 and 4l80 both have 32 spline shafts whereas the 700r4, th350, and 4l60 all have 27 spline shafts.

Well I already sold the motor and trans. And I already have the lq9 motor sitting in my garage. I Think I might have found a 4L80e but what would I need to hook that up to the lq9?? Harness adaptor??? Also I was wondering if my stock transfer case from my 700r4 would work?? Or if I'd have to get a different one??

The stock transfer case won't work as it is a 27 spline and the 4l80 is 32 spline. You would need to source a transfer case from a th400 or swap the shafts in the trans case you have. I am not 100% sure that the 700r4/4l60 trans cases bolt up to the 4l80 case with out an adapter. I have the th400 already and a 2wd 4l80, I won't know until later this summer how they go together.

Hey guys, I finally picked up a 4L80e the other day. I know I have to get an harness adaptor to hook the trans up, and then send the tune and get the trans switch, but I was wondering is there anyhting I need to do with the emission part of the engine, and wiring?? Do I have to delete anything to make it able to run??

no need
why dont you just get a harness from a 2500 silverado like your motor and trans both came from and make the factory harness work...everything for the trans to work is already in the harness.
im doing a 85 k1500 right now but im using a 5.3 and the stock 700r4 and 208...
you need 1inch setback plates(i made mine) and i used 98 f body headers(have to pie cut collectors) or car manifolds just to save you some research time....i had to loosen the frame mounts and slide them back to get everything else to work.

I dont want to get another harness.. I have all the stuff to make it work, and I just got an adaptor harness to hook the 4L80e up the the LQ9. With the stock wire harness, do I have to get rid of grounds and like the emissions stuff, or will I be able to turn that off in HPTUNERS?? If not, can I just put the motor and trans all in and the pedal and tac Module and just plug and go or what all needs to be down, I seem to be getting different opinions on this.

Do you need the wiring for the transmission, cuz i think i have it. my engine is a 2000 6.0 that came out of a 4wd. let me know if its anything youd like
as far as the O2, ive mainly heard people deleting the EGR and rear O2's in the tune

Hey, any clue were I could get the internal gears for my NP208 transfer case, which was matted up to my old 700r4, which I'm now trying to mate to my 4L80e trans? Or where I could get an old th400 np208 since those have the 32 spline??????

Need some help.. Starting to hopefully buy the last of the parts needed.. I'm looking at an aeromotive fuel system setup, but the price is killing me. If I was to build my own what all will I need, I know fuel pump thats pumping at like around 65 psi i believe?? I'm not sure on the fuel filters, and what microns or whatever I need and whether the smaller micron number is before the pump or after.. I thought I remember someone telling me somthing along those lines. Then I also will need a regulator?? That sets what psi its shooting right?? Other than that just some fuel lines correct?
