Default ls 1 conversion questions

question 1: can the one piece thermostats in the ls engine be upgraded to the later 2 piece?
Question 2: If I understant correectly, if I upgrade to the newer 2nd edition LS 6 valley cover that has the restrictor in it, I do not need a pcv valve or the vents to the valve covers-correct?

Thanks, Scott!

1- Not sure, have not had to do it.
2- Correct, but I would keep an eye out for oil usage. Wouldn't hurt to have both. (I plan on doing the if needed)

The late cover, pt # 12577927 has the fixed orifice. The early pt# 12568002 does not.
I'd use the later, no valve.
As for the v/c hook ups.. You must have the pass side to the t/b,[At least on the truck DBW body], in order to supply clean, metered air for circulation thru the crankcase.
Or, you can put a bung in the CAI tubing AFTER the MAF, and pull air from there.
Pulling a vac on a closed crankcase will raise hell w/ the seals...

And answer to your first question, yes they do make conversion kits to use the old style thermostat. I have seen them on ebay and thought about getting one.
