Default LS2 Miata Blown Away

Should say, Been Quite awhile since I've been in here, I'm just not much of a poster.

I'm Really Blown Away by All the Great assorted LSX Conversions and I can't believe how a Bad *** LSX power-plant "Improves" all these Fantastic Cars!

I started my LS2 Miata project with a used LS1 T-56 out of a 2001 Z28 back in late 2005, then when the New 2006 LS2 Corvette engine, suddenly became available, I sold my LS1 combo and bought mine from Don Hardy Race Cars, then finally completed the project in 2008.

Since then in thousands of miles and many car shows and cruises the fun still hasn't subsided, it was worth all the hard work, even to do a one-off like mine. Today, there are several, quality manufacturers of Great LSX Miata Conversion Kits around and I'd go that way in a heartbeat if I had to do it all over again.

Week-end before last, I did about 400 Miles with close to 1000 cars participating in the 24th Annual Route#66 Fun Run it was a Hoot! priceless looks on the faces of packs of Cobras and Corvettes when you pass by, a Great Car Show and further Good Times when we won "Best Japanese Car".
To win "Best Japanese Car" it took a Chevy LSX! Our favorite comment from one guy was that "it's Not a Ricer, this car runs on Pure Red Meat"!

Next Year is not only the 25th Anniversary of the Route 66 Fun Run, it's the Arizona State Centenniel too, so it's probably going to be a Monster in terms of attendence!

Beemers, Eh? Interesting!

Nothing better than taking a well sorted roadracer and dropping in an LS2. Makes for great street / track toys

I love Miatas this will be my next project. I think the Miata is the modern day Cobra.
Congrats on the trophy you deserve it.

Nice looking miata, but don't the stock brakes get a little scary? I would look into something much larger if you do anything other than cruise around.

The brakes are dimpled and slotted 11" sport discs with EBC green stuff pads, braided stainless lines, everything new, work great. My car is mostly a street driven car with occassional track days.

Guys with Corvettes ask me that same question all the time, and I tell/tease them; If my car was 1000 Lbs heavier like yours, I'd probably want 13" brakes too.

How much would you say you've invested in this project? This is something I'd like to do one day.

Mine's a one-off. I designed and fabbed everything. I spent about 30K including the original cost of the car.

There is a great conversion kit out now from a company called V8 Roadsters. Also a company in Colorado I've done business with over the years and I trust, Flyin' Miata Now does Turn-Key LSX Miatas. You take them your running, good condition Miata and they install a New crate LS3, a New T-56 and a New Cadillac CTS-V IRS rear end, complete for arounf 25-30K.

Keep in mind if you want suspension mods, upgraded brakes, anything extra just like with any car project, the price goes up.

Thanks!

I'm still dreamin' about a couple of future improvements. I'd really like to add the blower from Cadillac CTS-V and change out the T-56 for the new generation six-speed automatic with paddle-shifters on my MOMO wheel.

That would take my little jet to the next FUN level.
