Default Is a 4WD engine different?

I have a 1966 Cadillac Convertible and am going to replace the engine with a Gen III plant. I intend to use my TH 400 behind it.

I found a nice engine for it, but it's from a 2002 Avalanche and it's 4WD. Is there anything about a 4WD engine or it's oil pan that makes this a bad idea?

No difference in engines, only transmissions. Go for it.

4WD/2WD engines are the same. Oil pan on the Escalade is the same, but it will be too low on that car. You'll have to research. Check out the oil pan sticky at the top. There are some "short" pans that will work better. Holley just released their LS swap pan.

My old 429 engine had a front sump pan, and was at least as deep as the LM7 pan. I have not yet started the install, so I don't know how the fit will be. My engine compartment is big and deep though!
