Default How does the heater circuit work with a straight water neck

I am putting an LS1 into a C3 Corvette and have to convert to the straight thermostat housing. I was just wondering how the heater circuit will still work if I install on of the CSR water necks with an old style thermostat that doesn't have the little spring loaded heater valve thingy on it?

I just bought one from ebay and it arrived yesterday.
This was NOT a CSR brand. It was machined for the LS thermostat and is a stright outlet.
It cost about $65 bucks, but I can use a regular OEM theromostat (I reused my truck thermostat).
Check out the seller cbmsales@custombuiltmotors.com and you'll see it.

I'm pretty happy with the piece and no more rattling SBC thermostat.
