Default S10 2.2l to 5.3l LM7 swap

I just recently picked up an LM7 out of a 2004 Silverado to swap into my 2002 Chevrolet S10 that was previously equipped the 2.2l I am from the SF Bay Area and am here looking for advice

If anyone knows of any threads that they recommend I read as they feel doing so would answer some questions I may have let me know. Here is a list of what I currently have for the swap this all came with the purchase of my motor so let me know what I can and cannot use. Also I am aiming to do a smog legal swap as I reside in California. I will not be utilizing A/C at this time either so don't worry about that

2004 LM7 5.3 out of Silverado with 8000 miles
Area 51 Alternator Relocation Bracket
LS1 Intake (I do not have stock truck intake)
Modified truck oil pan to clear crossmember
2004 Silverado Wiring Harness
1999 Corvette CPU with Vats removed (Do I need to get the truck ECU?)
S10 LSX Motor mounts

Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for your time in advance

Hi Neighbor. Please keep posting as this progresses. I'm particularly interested in how you fare with the BAR Ref. I'm days away from green lighting an EROD swap into my Corvette and will have to face the CA smog issues too. I have ~130000 miles on my S10 4.3l and am hoping it will keep going for a while so I don't have to rebuild/replace it at the same time.

Just finished up my buddies 'shop truck' swap.
Nothing pretty just better than the 4 cylinder and functional.

I will keep you posted on the smog stuff as well as the part numbers I used for my swap. I plan to keep the swap extremely well documented and then write a step by step swap guide. I'll also save all of the threads I got my info from.

Right on you wouldnt have a record of the parts you used to complete the swap would you? Like part numbers and such? Also was this a smog legal swap or...

Hi,
I was just thinking about starting a very similar project. I have a 2001 sonoma that is already lowered, has a 4.3 and a 5-speed, 8.5 10bolt. with 3.42 gears. I had it for sale, but nobody is buying so I was thinking about how much it would cost me to put a 5.3 in it. I think it would be fun.

I was just looking for info and found your post. The biggest issue I have questions about is making the computer work with the factory dash panel and stuff like that. What are you gonna do or know about that?

Good luck and hope you keep us updated.

I'm currently in the process of swapping a 5.3L and a t56 6 speed trans into my 2000 s10 that had a 2.2 nv1500 in it. I'm topping it with a vortech supercharger and my end goal is also to make it a cali smog legal swap.

I've been working a lot on body work (the truck is on air bags) and haven't put the motor in yet but my main concern when I do get to that are the headers. I believe the only headers that would work with the swap are the 98-99 f-body headers (with modification) I don't know if the BAR ref will frown upon modified oem headers or not.

You can check out what i've done in my project thread on s10forum http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f30/pr...agging-429772/
