im doing my first swap and i was wondering instead of going out and buying a new yoke and cutting it down. would my existing 700r4 yoke work on my 4l80e? could it be cut down or are the splines completely different?

No, the 4L80E is a 32 Spline.

Early 2000's 4x4 Blazers have a 32 Spline Yoke on the rear drive shaft coming out of the Transfer Case, it's a 2.75" U-joint.
