lq 4 70 firebird questions
I'm restoring a 70 firebird and going to put a 6.0 t56 six speed in it. I found a 6.0 from a 2004 Denali with 100k on it for $900. I have a t56 for it. I am looking for advise on what upgrades for the motor. I would like to make around 500 hp at the motor but still have smooth idle and easy to drive in town. Would like some imput on cam heads (243) ect. The tranmission came with a textrulia clucth pressure plate disc and flywheel look like new.
Thanks Mike

As far as heads go, I might go with the Trick Flow As-Cast LS1 heads............only if I have the funds when I do my LS1 swap. If I had a lighter 2nd gen F-body (my favorite btw), I would probably go to paceperformance.com and get their LS swap header & motor mount kit for F-bodies along with the ported Trick Flow head and cam kit (from Summit Racing). Though take this with a grain of salt because I'm basing my choice on experience with their parts for sbf engines.

If you're gonna do it do it right, invest in some L92/LS3 heads and be done with it. I looked into porting the 243's I have and even with CNC work they were saying the L92/LS3 **** still flowed great even with light touch up work. I'll be putting my LQ4/LS3 combo into my 80 Z28 here soon.
BTW if you need a wiring harness I have an uncut engine harness out of a 2000 Z28 I'm looking to get rid of.
