01 3.8L V6 Camaro to LS2 conversion
I'm not 100% sure where to post this up but I figured here was the best spot.
I have done as much research as possible but have not found someone doing exactly what I am doing, most people already have an LS1 going to an LS2 but I have nothing, so im trying to figure out the best possible route. I have a few questions. I currently have a 2001 V6 Camaro that I am looking at putting an LS2 in. I will be getting rid of basically the entire drivetrain, engine/transmission, rear end, drive shaft, radiator/fans. I am planning on getting the following,
-an LS2 with the 24x crank reluctor wheel, which is what I understand will mate up with an LS1 wiring harness/PCM
-a 2001 LS1/T56 wiring harness/PCM, I want to go with the LS1/T56 PCM so it will mate up with my dash harness
-The TSP LS1 to LS2 conversion cam and knock sensor harnesses
-All LS1 engine accessories including A/C
My questions are as below...
1. I plan on getting a drop out online from a GTO or vette, what year has the 24x reluctor?
2. Will I need to get an LS1 oil pan? If so, what all will I need?
3. As far as wiring, is there anything else I would need to do besides get the LS1 to LS2 cam an knock sensor conversion harnesses?
4. Will any of the LS2 accessories work with an LS1 wiring harness? I ask because most dropouts come complete engine w/accessories
5. Will the T56 that is mated up with the LS2 work with the LS1/T56 wiring harness?
6. Will the pedals of an LS1 T56 work with the LS2?
7. Will the MAF mate up fine to the airlid?
8. Will I need an LS1 TB?
9. I will be getting the LS1 fuel tank, pump, and lines... will I need to do anything to mate up the stock LS1 lines or pump to the LS2? Im assuming the fuel pump wiring is connected to the hatch wiring harness?
10. LS2 intake work with LS1 wiring harness?
anything else is much appreciated!!!
Thanks!

This question or upgrade from V6 to V8 has been asked way to many times.. at this point of a 4th Gen F-Body. It would be cheaper to by a LS1 F-body...
But if you must, most of what you found well work, the key item you should invest in is the LS1 / late 4th Gen F-Body K-member, RP and anything else that is related or needed.
As far as Accessoris, pan, etc, just go late 4th Gen F-Body on everythng you can along with wiring and PCM.
As far as many of the items you listed, you can either make them work or use the correct part to make your V6 car into a V8 car (IMO a lot less problems and work).
IIRC that up to 05' (maybe some early 06') they were 24x.. look for a black crank sensor..

Thank you for the help! I found a sweet thread on ls2.com listed below that helped out a lot! I know getting a new F-body MIGHT be cheaper but I wont find one with an LS2 in it and I love my car, just needs an engine. I'm currently just pricing everything out that I need, the LS2 conversion might be too expensive but we shall see.

Ok. I understand... no problem, go for it..!.
I've got a LS1 k-member for sale... too bad your not closer. too heavy to ship cheap.. LOL if you can't find one. .$25 plus shipping ! (for my time).
The later 06' and newer LS2's came with 58x Wheels. so you should be able to find one with a 24x wheel.

Cool thanks! Ill keep you in mind when I start compiling parts in a couple months. Luckily Im in Texas where the Fbody crowd is larger than most areas, so I should be able to find all my parts fairly easy. I think ive figured out everything except for the transmission and oil pan. I still need to find out if I get a dropout LS2 w/T56 from a GTO, will that T56 work in a camaro with the LS1 camaro wiring harness? If so, will it have the right torque arm mount and will I be able to use a T56 fbody transmission crossmember on it? Oh, and will the slave cylinder work with the fbody master cylinder?
edit: also need to find out if I need to get a LS1 oil pan or not for an LS2 in a camaro?
Thanks for all the help!

We're doing the same swap, v6 to ls2 in a firebird. Check out the build: v6 to LS2 Firebird
Read all of the posts by BlackBirdDaddy and if you have questions feel free to send me a PM.
We just got the LS2 in 2 days ago. Front suspension is also done, it's a roller as of right now.
