LY5 standalone wiring harness compatibility
Alright guys, I have been doing some research into my swap and it seems I have a few questions that I cannot find answers for online.
My intentions are to eventually drop in an LS7 V8 into my Nissan.
Now in the meantime while I am working on gathering funds, I would like to drop in a cheap LY5 5.3 into the car to get it running and have the swap mostly complete.
I would like to know if I could buy a single standalone swap wiring harness for the LS7 engine and use it with the LY5, with reasonable accommodations - I.E using an LS7 throttle body, maf sensor, and throttle pedal with the LY5, and having the ECU tuned for the LY5 with the aforementioned mods.
I am mainly trying to avoid buying and wiring in two different harnesses, two different maf sensors, two different throttle pedals, etc, etc.
After browsing CPWire.com It looks like the engines share a few similar connectors at least - http://www.currentperformance.com/Co...s/LS2_LS7.html
Also, would it be possible to tune an OE LS7 ECU to run an LY5, or would I need an LY5 ECU?

Why not just get a GMPP LS7 ECM/harness kit. I've seen them about $850-$999. My LY6 harness(w/A4) cost $850 IIRC. With GM O2sensors,ECM reflash and TCM and pedal my bill was over $1500.
So I think GMPPs' kit is a STEAL

I considered that. Would that harness kit allow me to run an E38 style 5.3 engine though?
Are the crank and cam sensors the same on an 07 or 08 5.3 as a same year LS7?
If these two sensors are the same then I could just use an Ls3/Ls7 maf and throttle body on with the 5.3 running on the GMPP LS7 harness and ECU (With tuning of course).
