New Scion FR-S: Who will be the first?
This car is neat because it's the only light and cheap rear wheel drive coupe about to be in production. Low $20K and 3000lbs or less. With a subaru boxer engine, I hope there's room for the LS.

i guess...but why not boost the boxer first? No doubt the tuners will have 400hp kits for this thing out there in no time. I realize that's not enough for many here, but the thing may fall apart with even that much power.
However, any new Toyota based build should always consider the project name "Unintended Acceleration".

I like this concept, I didn't know if it was going to be slated as a Scion, Toyota, Subaru, or what but I hope it's a winner.

That car doesn't live up to all the expectations. It's heavy for it's size and underpowered for the weight. Nobody has cracked the ECU so power upgrades are pretty limited right now. I have to say it is a sharp looking car though.

But then again, i think the Lexus LFA took its place.

Not trying to be a downer but I doubt the production version will look that radical. For example, look at the shape of the rear window at the top... that will be hard to produce en mass. The grille is quite aggressive and heavily detailed as are the lines on the side while the overall stance is too low for the roads, parking lots and inattentive drivers I've seen in most areas. Cool concept, but I would expect it to be heavily watered down by the time it hits the dealers.
Sad actually how the manufacturers get us all hyped up on things that they know won't make production. I guess that gives us in the aftermarket something to do!
On the positive note, it looks like it would be fun with a nice torque monster under the hood, especially with a smooth idle, quiet exhaust and AC. Where can I find this beast on the cheap, my plasma cutter and welder are waiting!

As long as they make it 3000 pounds or less, keep the rear wheel drive and the low 20k, it will be the only one of it's kind and a sure winner. The article also said it's about the size of the last celica.
