Prices are from summit racing, part numbers are from research I've done. When you check on summit, you'll need to search the exact part # as searching for brackets wont bring anything up.

Ive really been thinking about picking up a 5.3 so I can start a "just in case my motor blows" build.

I just want something reliable that makes around 350 HP that doesnt cost 5 grand.

I figure with a LS intake, headers, cam, and tune I should be close to my goal.

I thought of going 5.3 myself as the cores are only $500 at the junkyard. They'll still make plenty of power, just without the option to run L92/LS3 heads.

a 327 just doesnt seem worth it, unless your lt1 has a rod stuck through the block... ls1 drop outs can be bought for same money, as well as for a little bit more you can buy a lq4 shortblock, go big or go home

5.3's are cheap and with a turbo can be nuts..I dont know where you are at but I can snag them for $500 with wiring.. LS1's arent that cheap.

That's not common, at least not here.

LS1 - $1500
LS2 - $2000
L92 - $2800
LQ4/9 - $900
5.3 - $500
4.8 - $800

These are rounded prices from a local yard, none come with wiring as they cut the harness to pull the motors and leave the computers where they are. I'd have no problem running a 5.3 over an LS1 or LT1, as you can get around the same power.

I did an LS7 swap into my 1996 LT1.
These are the main components of the swap:
2000 LS1 Harness an PCM.
Engine built by GOLEN engine service 650 HP version.
KOOKS 1 7/8 SS LS1 headers
Bolted up to my 94 built 4L60E tranny (Non PWM TCC)
Using advance adapters KIT No 712500A
BMR LS1 Kmember - OEM 200 LS1 Engine Mounts
Corvette Fuel pressure regulator- mounted in stock position
2000 LS1 Power steering rack and shaft
LS1 heater lines.

Car is running now. Working on the tune right now.

Engine tranny combo-(my friend Luis working on the harness) :

Partial view of finished repinned and reworked harness:

Corvette Fuel pressure regulator installed in stock location:

Custom Throttle cable bracket mount using LS1 throttle bracket. (LS7 manifold intended for drive by wire TB-no provision for throttle cable) Cruise control hooked up.

Full engine bay view:

car as it sits now:

Any chance next time you do a harness you can take pictures? I'm more of a learn by looking at pictures/or by doing kind of person, rather than reading.

I might attempt to try this myself.

This is the Harness thats been in 3 different vehicles without alteration..the only thing I've added since was the wiring for Air Condition if I ever run it.

It started as a 1999 F-body Harness, I got rid of the junk, added what I needed to, and made it fit my Engine.
