Default l92 swap for 71 el camino

I have been searching on line but can't find the info I need. I want to get a l92 and swap it into my 71 el camino. I hear that the ctsv oil pan is best and all the accessory drive set up from a f-body. I don't want to run the truck intake or harness. It looks like a ls3 intake will work and then can i just use a ls3 engine swap harness. Any help would be great.

If you get a L92, you plan on keeping the VVT? If so, you'd need the donor harness or a L99 donor since you plan on the LS3 intake anyways. If you delete the VVT and use the GMPP kit, you prolly need to check for proper alt wiring. Ok. We need more info. LOL to many IFs

Ya my bad. My brother is doing the swap when I'm in Afghanistan and we really don't want to go threw adapting a factory hardness. An after market harness from summit racing is what I was thinking about getting. And as far as the ifs that's what I need help on what else do I need to do. Do I need to change the cam if I'm not using the vvt. And I read to change over to a ls1 timing chain. And ill be running a t56

If you dont want to use the VVT, you need to change the cam. Then you can use a LS2timing cover and use the Fbody FEAD. If you are swaping pieces (TB,ALT,MAP,MAF) you probably might want to look at www.speartech.com or http://secure.ultracart.com/catalog/PSI/ for a custom harness. Both have a stellar reputation and customer assistance after the sale. Which is VERY important.

I also want to thank you for your service in our millitary. Good luck with your swap and stay safe over there.

What is a good price for a l92 I think I'm going to end up with just a long block but if its a complete motor what should I be looking at spending. I'm going to call speartech on Monday see if I can keep the vvt and dod. It would be kinda cool to have.

Ok jumbo1367 I talked to the guy at PSI he said $800 for the wiring harness and tuned ecu. Now he said the vvt isn't a problem but the software and tunning for the dod might be if I'm not going to run cats and switching to a manual trany might affect it to. I guess the computer uses the post cat O2 readings for it. But he said he will help me with it and won't charge me for it. Have you heard of it being ran. So I'm going to just try and get the long block and front accessories. How much should I try and get the motor for if I can hear it run.
