Default CBR's 64 Nova Wagon

Here is what we have done with the "Chuck Wagon"

We removed the 300hp crate engine and fuel system for the obvious....LS engine. The engine is from an 05' truck that is the L-33 coded engine (aluminum block).
-4L60E transmission
-PSI Harness 732-691-6531
-Spare ECM computer 330-473-0426
-Ricks Hot Rods fuel tank 915-760-4388
-Entropy Radiator 773-669-6573
These are the main components needed the rest can be made up from your local parts store.

Finding a place to enter the harness through the firewall was a challenge so I decided to use the stock location for the speedometer cable. The hole needed to be opened up to 2". The harness comes with a really nice grommet that makes it look factory original.

Here is my son helping pull the connectors through the hole. The entire harness started out inside the car and I fed all the little connections one by one out the fire wall.

Next while I had my trusty assistant we lowered the engine and transmission into its resting place and bolted it up with stock motor mounts connected to our LS header swap plates and then our 4L60E transmission cross member.

Up next was the LS radiator made for us by Entropy. I had to detail the mounts a bit but, I can not complain about this radiator as it is a near perfect fit. It comes with Dual fans, trans cooler lines and the much needed steam line vent just below the upper radiator hose, which I might ad is on the passenger side of the car just like the engine.....very nice!

With the radiator installed You will notice the comparison to the radiator core support....not very high with plenty of clearance below as well. The entire core support opening is covered with radiator cores.

Now it is time to wire these fans to something. So We purchased the proper LS fan harness from Entropy as well. It is a very simple harness that is well put together and labeled. It comes with relays and fuses designed to be in the engine compartment. There is also a nice long pig tail that has a weather pack connector for easy removal that extends into the **** pit and connects up with fan 1 and fan 2 of the ECM.

With the radiator in I needed to route the transmission lines. Out of the trans I have a 3' pig tail of braided hose with a -6 AN connection. From there I flared the end of some steel lines and connected them to the radiator but, not before making spaghetti out of some steel.

With the lines routed I then installed the Oil pressure sensor for my gauge.

And finally clearance to the header...

Our engine was out of a truck and I did not get any of the front drive accessories. So I have the cadillac cts front drive system. This system has a different pressure line fitting. So I purchased a Cadillac power steering line and cut to fit with an Aeroquip connection.

The instructions for this pump set up suggests that if you want to use a -6 connector you must remove the pump pulley, machine the back side of the pulley as the adapter fitting would make contact. Instead I figured it would be easier and neater to use part of the Cadillac power steering hose.

One thing I found was that the 05 GTO trans dip stick tube is perfect. I should have installed it before the engine was in place as it fits like GM made it for the Nova!

Now for the headers We used our CBR LS nova conversion headers built by Stainless Works. They fit great and assemble without a fuss. Before I installed them I welded on some V-band clamps.

O2 sensors

Here are some photos showing the various clearance issues associated with headers....not with the CBR/SW, everything fits as it should with room to spare.

This photo shows the dipstick installed.

Next came the 3" exhaust. After some driving I think I will re-think the tail pipes....too tight and tend to make some rattling noises.

With the headers in place I moved on to the Intake elbow, MAF, and filter. The elbow came from intakehoses.com you need to know what size your throttle body is so that you can get the proper size elbow. The filter came from summit.

Here are the part numbers for what I purchased.

90HL40R35 Reducing Elbow 90 Degree 4" ID to 3.5"
94100-0450 T-Bolt Clamp for 4" ID Black Rubber
94100-0400 T-Bolt Clamp for 3.5" ID Black Rubber

...and the filter

For my water temp gauge I installed a bushing and sensor in the passenger side head.

Fuel system was purchased from Ricks Tanks in Texas. Rick uses a 2010 Camaro fuel pump module and also installs a 90ohm sender, it is the VaporWorks set up....Nice, very Nice!

Fuel module harness. Purchased from Carl Cassinova or CarlC on the forums.

With the key on and the pump primed the engine fired right up and ran very quietly. I drove it to fill up the gas tank...2 miles. Loaded it up on the trailer and headed for the Columbus Good Guys show. While there it has ran very well. I do think we need to do some minor tuning as the trans hits the rev limiter before it gets into second gear. It has reportedly went mid to high 13's at 99 mph and likes to be on the gas drifting out of the tight turns with plenty of power on tap.

A recent trip to the Nova Nationals in Kentucky netted 21mpg averaging 75mph. Not bad on the initial tune
