hahaha, okay, i saw a pretty rough camaro for sale, so i stopped to check it out. idk the year, but its a lt1 age, has a v6 and a 5 speed, about 220000 miles so its not gonna last anytime, the funniest part, is the guy hung an appraisal paper from like NADA or sumting, and it starts with rough condition 250 (which is what it is), then average condition, like 800, then good condition trade in, like 1200, then good condition retail, like 2200, okay, he wants 2000 lmao. it looks like it was pulled outta a lake, so im gonna offer him about 250 dollars, and the funniest thing, he spelled camaro, "camero" hahahaha, anyways, what i was wanting to know is how much and how hard it would be to do a swap to an ls1 or ls6 into the like 95 camaro, what all would i need, and how much would it cost? sorry for such a long post, not sure if this is where it sould be either

It wouldn't be a ton of money or real hard to do. My advice would be to just get a good shell.

it looks like a pretty good shell. interior isnt all beat to hell either, just the outside is really really bad, not sure whether the engine or trans is good. if it has a new engine and trans, i'll just tell the guy to keep it, i just want the shell, not the powertrain or drivetrain. gonna put some big **** in it

oh yea and its a hard top, couldnt tell if it was a stripper or not, but i forgot to get the vin. ahh well, i might be back there in a week or so, im going to call him and tell him that i really don't think it is worth his asking price (ask for more around 200), and tell him i really just want the body, not engine or trans, just need the front suspension and rear end so i can transport the body easier. he isnt gonna sell it for even 1 grand, so if he really wants to get rid of it, he'll prolly take what im givin him

yea man, but you should see the thing, the only reason he is askin 2k is cus his online appraisal said it books at 2800, lmao, i think its either an old man or woman selling it, or just a big idiot, because that car is really definately not in a good retail condition, it has friggin 221,000 miles, if it even starts, its not gonna roll 1 mile before it just falls apart, and plus all the paint is **** and the front end is busted up and all kinds of **** wrong with it, the appraisal says clearly the rough condition price is worth 250 hhehe

Sounds like a lot of work. If you buy the car for $250, part it out and use that cash to get a good shell to work with. Body work is a bitch.

ehh, not too bad of work, i think everything is cosmetic, didnt really look structurally damaged, but not sure yet. i need to learn body work and stuff so i think this car is perfect for me at 250. if i can get all of it for 250, im gonna hopefully make a little bit on the existing stuff parting it out.

It always blows my mind when people want to "upgrade" a V6 Camaro to a LS1 Camaro. Sure parts are available, but that's because they came stock with that engine to begin with. I think the LS swaps (or any EFI) are feasible on cars that didn't come from the factory with it.

My personal opinion is that you won't get the car for $250, especially since the interior is decent and it's mostly cosmetic on the outside. if it actually runs then $1500-2000 would be a fair price. You would only insult the owner and **** them off lowballing them like that. Huge spread between $2k and $250.

Having said that, by the time you spend the time and money upgrading that 1995 car with everything it needs for Ls1 you could have went out and bought a nice 1998-2000 Z car for almost the same investment and be good to go and have way less issues (to begin with).

76 camaro guy, i don't really think it will be a money pit, and sure, i could go out and get a 98-02 LS1, but what would be the fun in just buyin it. I was really thinkin instead of going ls1 or ls6, maybe just getting a 6.2 or 6.0 truck block and building me an engine off of that like the first replier said. i was also saying that the damage was just a matter of cosmetics, well, because the car looks really rough. the front end has most of the paint chipped off, and the rest of the clear coat on the entire car has chipped off, and seeing that the car has 221,000 miles on it, im sure its not a "good condition retail" car. what he/she is wanting is about 10x what the car is really worth, but if they won't sell it, i won't buy it, fair enough. i meant that the interior isnt beat to hell, as in it isnt all ripped to shreds like it would be if it were torn out searched for drugs, but it is still really dirty and the center console is ripped out and missing. it definately isnt a nice car, or even an almost alright car, it is just a good shell to do what i want to it

I looked at a running 94 firebird V6 last summer in that EXACT shape and the guy wanted $850 for it.

I think $800-900 would be a fair offer judging by the condition, 1k max

still a money pit for what your getting unless your doing all the work yourself...including paint.
