Default 5.3 vs LS1 alternator wiring?

A friend of mine put a 5.3L in a Jeep wrangler, his 5.3L alternator wasn't charging anything so I converter the pigtail to have the 470ohm 1/2 watt resistor exciter wire and installed my LS1 alternator on it and it worked perfectly. The 5.3L alternator he installed on it had been fried, I'm guessing by improper wiring. Anyways, it had been working fine, but recently he installed a new 5.3L alternator back onto it (I guess for piece of mind that he has a new alternator) and the alternator isn't charging

should the 5.3 and LS1 alternating wiring be the same?

Default

wait I think I know what happened, he originally had a light rigged up- but it wasn't working, I pulled the ignition power from that light to run through the resisted exciter wire. We uninstalled the light- so we ended up cutting the exciter wire, forgetting I used it further down stream on the harness
