Default 5.3 in a '61 Corvette, T10 4 speed?

I'm buildng a mild pro-touring '61 Corvette and starting to add a 5.3 w/LS1 intake. Does anyone know what flywheel combination is needed to use original bellhousing and transmission (BW T10). My trans of choice is a super T10 (plus I have one). I do not want to cut the body, so the shifter must come out on the original hole. The frame is set up with a MII and 4 link with all original clutch linkage. I read several things, but wish someone who actually has done this will comment. Thanks, Zeke

A 61 T10 would be a 10 spline with a 153 tooth flywheel/bellhousing, correct? It's easier to use a 168 tooth bellhousing.
Check out post 28 here.

Most would tell you to use 1" setback plates to keep the trans / Bell housing in the original location. But since the 61 Vette has a front plate to mount the engine, You will have to weld in new side frame mount anyway, so you should be able to move them where you need it to keep the Trans/Bell housing in it correct location.

I have seen a few swap using a front plage, I guess you can always fab up a plate to adapt to the front of the Gen III/IV engine and have the tab extened 1" to provide the 1" setback to the original plate mounting location.

One issue is that the Z-bar, the Gen III/IV has not provision for the Z-Bar ball, you would have to fab up something using the Bell housing bolt (?). Either that or convert to Hyd master/slave.

Default My 61 ST10, Z28 flywheel?

Actually, I'm using a Super T10 with 26 splines on the input, no big deal. My big question is what flywheel I can use. I have a Corvette/Z28 Camaro fly wheel p/n 12554130. The thread someone previous sent me recomends the truck fly wheel. Are they interchangible. The truck flywheels are non-existant used and $300 new, but I already have the Z28 fly wheel with the same tooth count. Any thoughts?
Thanks, Keith Z

Default Good stuff

"bczee", I got lucky, the factory Corvette belhousing has a bracket mounting the pivot ball for the zee-bar. Beings I have to move the whole mess forward 1" to clear the firewall, I'll have to move my shifter back a inch on the transmission and lengthen the rod from the clutch pedal to the zee-bar. I won't even attempt to us front mounts, beings I've removed the frame brackets when installing the MII front suspension. "Jscford", the link to the tri5 web sight indicated that my Z28 flywheel should work. All this stuff is great. It's much better to ask the guys wou've done this than make my own experiments that waste money.
Thanks, Keith Z (zeke5551)

Truck flywheels are available at Oreileys for $50, Sachs 1050 for 05 1 ton, 6.0. You can use it with a 10 or 26 spline old school 11" BBC clutch. I think pre 72 BB use 10 spline, post 72 used 26 spline. This is what I used with the Muncie.
I used an 02 camaro LS1 flywheel/clutch with my 68 vette, 6.0, Richmond 6 speed (26 spline, same input shaft as a T10). It's not as thick as the truck flywheel so you'll need a longer throwout bearing to get correct clutch geometry. With the flywheel distance farther, the disc splines overlap the front (unsplined) part of the input shaft, but I've never heard of anyone having problems.
Either setup will need a BBC 168 tooth bell housing (#621) and an LS7 pilot bearing. An adjustable fork pivot ball is a good idea too.
