Default ls1 into my 4wd 1500 PU?

I bought a LQ4 to make a 408 out of and put in the trans am, which means I will have the stock 2002 Ls1 sitting in the garage, Besides the intake what else would have to be changed over to put the LS1 into my 2000 gmc 1500
4WD, anyone done this? thoughts on the swap?

The same bone stock parts used on a 5.3 besides injectors and a tune to match the LS1.

If it had a V8 and was not a 4.3L. Its a bolt in swap!

Remove long block 4.8/5.3L and bolt in LS1 long block. Reuse intake and everything else. Then retune PCM for larger motor. It will run on the 5.3L tune. Check your injectors as the early motors had 19# hr units later all truck motors went with a common 24#hr units. But it will run on either injector.

Is this something you would do, seems like a lil more power would be good for towing and such.

Hell yeah be well worth it. Bolt in and a tune that's it!! I think the F-body oil pan may not clear the front diff. But swap the oil pan, pickup, and windage tray off the 5.3L to the LS1.

If the LS1 is stock at least throw in an LS6 cam and springs. Summit has them new for cheap like $270 bucks!

Then sell the long block 5.3L its worth $300-500 bucks if miles are low.

How much would the tune need to be changed? Just thinking if I swap the truck intake onto it, it should just about run on the same tune?? Just asking I'm no pro and would like opinions. Also is there an RV or towing cam that should be used because of the low rpms the truck motor turns? or would the Ls6 cam work?h

Ls6 cam will work but probably not ideal. For towing applications you often see shorter duration on the exhaust than intake...
