Default 07 6.0l vvt cam change

got an 07 6.ol out of a 3/4 ton truck. Think it has vvt in it, funny lookin disc thing on the end of the cam.... Goin in my 66 chevelle, since I don't have the ecm, wiring etc, can I just put a reg cam in it? What ecm will I need to look for? Probably go with an ls3 intake on the l92 heads on it.....

You likely have an LY6. To put a nonVVT cam in, you will need a nonVVT timing cover, timing chain, and cam.

Is there any advantage to going with the vvt even tho I dont have any of the stuff to get it to work,ie wiring harness, ecm? I'll have to have a wiring harness made so I could go either way?
Thanx Bandit

To take advantage of anything vvt has to offer, the vvt will have to work. If it doesn't and you are planning to upgrade the cam, there is no benefit to going with an aftermarket vvt cam. If the vvt does work, well then there is a debate.

VVT vs nonVVT performance on an LSx is a debated topic. You will find heavy opinions on both sides of the argument. I recommend you read up and decide for yourself what you want to do. See the Gen IV internal engine forum thread called "VVT Cams". There is a lot of info there.
