Default Cooling Issues 97 S-10/w 02 6.0L

Does anyone know what temp the thermostat opens up on a stock 2002 6.0L?
I thought it was 195 but i want to make sure before i buy a different one hoping to solve this problem.
The temp in my truck seems to keep climbing up to about 210-215 degrees. I have the fans wired to a switch for now. Once i turn the fans on it will go down to about 195-199.
Also these temp readings are with an OBD scanner my gauge doesnt seem to read properly either. The sending unit is for a 1997 s10 that i hooked directly to the gauge.

Any help would be appreciated thanks

i thought it was 195 as well. i have a be cool s10 radiator and twin 11" s blade jegs fans with shroud, with an lq4 and i tried different thermostats and fan on/off temps and it runs about 200* no matter what. however it wont climb in traffic or heat or anything. and now its turbocharged and still runs the same temp...

How big of a radiator are you running? I am going to be doing a 5.3L swap and I'm having an all aluminum one made. I run a 160* in the SS but that goes with the Hypertech programmer

Talking My observation[s]...

195* is the stock stat "rating"...
However, most stats I find to be working in a range that could be 10* hotter than rated. [AFIK, the rating is the temp at which the stat starts to open.]
I have a LQ9 in my 55, and it has a "185*", aftermkt stat. My scanner, [EFILIVE], shows consistently higher temps.. Closer to 195*. Ambient doesn't seem to affect it, so I believe the rad is good to go. [PRC alum crossflow, 2 -11" Spals, PCM controlled.]

The stock stat, in both my 07 Silve and the 08 Silve, read 210 on the dash, and right at 200-205 on the EFILIVE scans....

As far as I'm concerned, if it stays below 210*, I'm GTG...
In the case of the OP, I'd drive it!

Sounds like your set up is working normally.

The rad is for a stock s10 with a 4.3. I will have to drive it around see what happens.
