Default 4l60E & Dakota Digital gauges

I have been searching the internet & I cant find nothing on how to make my DD gauges work with a 4L60E trans. Im sure its a way to get gauges to pick up the speed signal from the computer. Has anyone done this before?

Well, we need more info, like what year motor and are you using the stock computer? If so, just connect to the speedometer output from the pcm.

I put DD in my 71 velle, w/4l80e. I told them what I was doing and everything came with it.... I didn't have any trouble setting it up. I did get the gear indicator accessory. It was all strait forward, just followed the instructions... Ialso got their cruise control, and rear view mirror..Cool stuff...

I was trying to figure out how i will hook the speedo up now that I'm using the 4L60E instead of the TH350 with the speedometer sending unit that screws onto the transmission.

The Dakota VHX gauges count the vss pulses for one mile to calibrate the gauge. Or they have the mechanical screw in speedo that converts to a pulse signal. Not sure how the older ones work, but their tech support is pretty good.

You will have to run a wire from the PCM vss out, Pin 55 dark green/white to the digital dakota box.

My DD gauges installed easy. I used the VSS output wire, just tapped into that and programmed the DD computer with the up and down buttons. I just followed the instructions that came with the gauges.

Just installed these and tapped the vss purple wire at the trans.

Now the PCM is throwing a low signal code from the vss.

Do I have to use the vss out pin in the PCM or is something else wrong.

EDIT: went back and followed directions above to tap the pin 55 green/white wire instead and now everything works perfectly
