Default THREAD UPDATED!! 87 Chevy Silverado short bed 5.3 vortec,4L60e trans swap

I am nearing completion of my 5.3/4L60e out of a 2000 silverado. Only mods are F body longtube headers,2 1/2" flowmaster dumps with an H pipe and a Spectre air filter. I worked on the swap here and there over the corse of about 3 or 4 months. There is still more work to be done. I still need gagues, a new shift linkage cable, new o2 sensors and extract 3 broken header bolts.

paid
$450 shipped for a 101k mile 5.3 vortec out of a 2000 silverado
$400 for 4l60e trans locally from a 2000 tahoe
$450 for Stand alone harness from Chevy Thunder
$160 for used Fbody longtube headers off ebay (hookers i think)
$255 for 2 1/2" exhaust with me supplying Flowmaster mufflers
$20 stock driveshaft from 2000 tahoe
$75 power steering pump and alternator with accesory bracket
$50 Airtex fuel pump
$15 coolant resevoir 04 silverado
$15 stock air duct 06 silverado
These are just some of the expenses off the top of my head. There are more.

I am having trouble with the stock linkage cable. Im not able to put the trans into gear past drive. I m looking into the Lokar cables but im not sure which one will work. I also have broken header bolts they are causing small exhaust leaks on both sides of the headers so initial throttle response isnt as crisp as it should be. I need to also hook up the TCC brake switch wiring. I have a purple and a pink wire coming from the custom harness and an orange and a white wire from the brake switch on the truck. Which wire goes where? Also need to install the park neutral switch and hook up a tach

I'm sourcing parts to do the same thing shortly. 74 c10 though. I'm curious if you had to notch the frame to run those headers?

i used the adapter plates off ebay like 30 bucks. I think i would have rather used the trans dapt 4572 mounts for just a little extra. I had a tough time lining up the motor mounts. I did have to notch the frame a little bit on both sides. ill see if i can get some pics up

not the headers but i did notch the frame slightly on each side. I have a few updates to add. I tried a Comp 224/230 cam for a while but it didnt run too well without the stall. I have since swapped the 5.3 for a true 5.7 aluminum ls1 out of a 2000 camaro.
