Progress is slow on the car, I've been working on our house building a roof over the back porch. Finally spent some time with brake parts. These are factory drum brake hubs, drilled and tapped for 1/2 inch arp studs.

Installed a power steering cooler just below the ac condenser, it's high enough to be protected by the bumper, adds fluid capacity and should get plenty of air.

looking good, do you plan on autocrossing the car or what made you add the power steering cooler?

On PowerTour last yr, Driving into Chattanooga we went thru ruby ridge. It was an awesome drive, lots of switch backs and elevation change. By the time we got to the bottom, my power steering pump was whining and didnt like me very much. (It was full, I checked over the car many times on the trip) I used a smaller pulley like most people that have Abody Lsx swaps. I think sustained RPM and lots of turns caused the fluid to aerate from over speeding the pump. I figure with added capacity and cooling it will help combat the issue. And it was only $33+ two fittings I already had in the garage.

And yes I plan to hit the autocross, even plan on a few track days on the big tracks here in Texas. Plus I have a bit of advantage on the big tracks, I already know them very well from racing motorcycles. I'm excited to say the least.

That makes sense, yeah I guess I didn't really think about the smaller pulley overdriving the pump but I had heard of other a-body swaps having power steering issues while autocrossing. I will have to find another place to mount a cooler when I put one on as I already have my trans cooler right where you put yours.

That should be a lot of fun running the car around the same tracks you ran the bike on. Make sure to get some action vids when you hit the auto cross and track!

Driver qtr progress

Threw the wheels on Sunday and made an autocross track at the high school. Turned out to be a lot of fun. But my slow leaking radiator is now leaving puddles under the car.

And Not looking forward to this.

Borrowed some 18x10 wheels with 6 inch backspace, they fit perfect inside could go one inch on outside. It would be tight but doable.

You can see the terrible welding from the previous owner. Finding these welds is what started this mess.

Driver qtr is coming out nice

I should have my brake lines today from kore3. Here are a few pics of the brake setup.

And some paint after a lot of clean up. That was a lot of work for something no one will see!

Brackets I used from Rich Hoag

Looking good man!

What's the main reason going to the camaro front disc, are the rotors any larger or just a better caliper setup?

Larger rotor, better caliper, and I only have $129 in the swap. Source the calipers and rotors from wrecking yard for almost nothing, brackets were $60 and brake hoses from kore3 were $69.

Biggest reason?.... the stock disk brakes are crap if you actually drive your car.. see post # 334. But probly fine for guys that just got to car shows and sit in a lawn chair.

Thanks for the post# reference I must have missed that, yeah I completely understand after looking at that. I have upgraded rotors and pads on mine but still running the stock caliper. They don't look bad but I also haven't been autocrossing my car. That's gonna change this year though.

"I used a smaller pulley like most people that have Abody Lsx swaps."

Yes, I did the same thing. However I did go with a 25% underdrive balancer to help compensate.

They sure are. I put moog ball joints in them as soon as I got them. Have held up great so far.

Slowly chipping away at the car. Shaved the side marker after replacing the lower qtr. came out pretty good.

Fixed a small rust spot in the rocker

I knew I had an issue in the lower rear glass but wow!

But made quick work of the rust with help of friends.

And started throwing filler!

Blasted and primed the headlight buckets

Perfect, thanks! I have a 72 GMC sprint I'm putting together with a turbo ls/t56 setup and I was wondering if those arms are worth the gamble but I think I'll pick up a set now.
