Default LS1 swap

My brother in law just bought an LS1 to put into his 56 bel air, we are trying to figure out all we will need to do the swap. We are trying to find a harness and PCM (its a 98 LS1 if it matters) and we want to put his turbo 400 trans to it so any tips or advice or any links to a similar swap would be great thanks alot.

Since you are looking for a PCM and harness, I would recommend updating to the 99-newer pcm setup. Your coolant sensor will be different but the performance and tunability of the 99-newer PCM is well worth it. Send us a PM if you would like some pricing, we offer the harness and PCM.

I can't really help you - my conversion was a G body.

The 400 will work, make sure you have the flexplate/spacer issues solved. You'll need a crossmember. Power steering lines were an issue for me. Street and Performance in Mena, Arkansas is really pricey but they have tri five swap stuff like motor mounts.

You can go with manual steering, but you would obviously have to eliminate the power steering pump. There are some aftermarket companies that sell accessory brackets to accomplish this.

Regarding the TH400, you will need a manual transmission harness and a PCM with a manual transmission tune to use that transmission. We run a TH350 in a Nova with a similar setup.
