Default What Tranny Fittings?

What did you use on your transmission line fittings to make a sharp turn. I used the search , and the sticky for a body swaps are gone. I remember reading several swaps, but i cant find them. Its just faster to ask.

Im installing a 4L70E, same as the other 4Ls. I couldnt figure out the thread, but i removed the fitting out of the T350 from the car and it is the same thread. Thanks

Thank you sir, found out they are still 1/4 nps. Ordered the fittings for the tranny and cooler today.

Im going to try 90s and "modify" if needed. I think 45s will stick out too far.

Thats interesting.....I have a 4l70e trans and got a set of 1/4 npsm of adapters, Russels p/n 640520, from a local speed shop and they were too small. I am wondering if the local shop had a mix up and someone put the wrong fittings in the package? What are the outside dimension of your adapters?

Almost all GM transmissions use an "o"ring/flat gasket seat straight thread going into the trans case. It is normal to use a 1/4 npt adapter in place. Be careful when you screw the fitting into the case, since npt is a tapered thread and the case is straight. We have used these successfully for many years.

I thought only the 80s needed those fittings from sweet performance? Forgive me for not being familiar with the 70s though. Do they have the same cooler line locations as the 80s??

Same thing I have always done. Just screw the 1/4 NPT fitting in, with a little teflon tape and have never had a leak.

I measured the threads with a dial caliper at .517, both the 1970 tube adapter and the 2008 adapter. I did order those same fittings, we will see when they arrive. I would use a little bit of teflon tape with the washers to be safe.

The adapters were so much smaller they slid in without even turning them.

Would these work for a 4L60E? Going in my 93 Mustang and I want to keep the lines tight to the case for clearance.
