1971 rs camaro 6.0 swap
Hey guys well this will be my first build thread, and definitely be a hard task for me lol. i have been lurking for a little while now and soaking up all the info i can like a sponge.the car is currently 468 bbc roller motor with m-21 (not real gas friendly) my plans are lq4 6.0 swap, have motor paid 850$ came complete with harness starter pulleys wiring etc.... im thinking 5 or 6 speed haven't made up my mind yet, seems like the t56 are golden right now and for the price and not knowing what ur gonna get im thinking a tko perfect fit will be my best option. my plans with motor is nice sounding cam probably ls3 intake and a head swap (ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE CHIME IN) don't wanna do much to lower end if its not needed. would like around 450hp at flywheel here's a pic of the victim!!

Awesome car and truck!
Keep stock heads, mill up to .030
Ls2 head gaskets and new headbolts.
Ls6 intake manifold, with a healthy cam, long tube headers. It will meet or exceed yourgoal. But you did not mention how aggressive a cam you can run.
So many choices
No need for ls3 heads, and no need for rod bolts or going into the bottom end.
Ive wound stock bottom end lq4s to up to 7000rpm with aggressive cams.

Not to derail the thread or anything but I am restoring a 1970 camaro RS and I love the color scheme I am going with a Dodge Viper blue on my car and was wondering what color stripes those are. Sharp looking car by the way and cant wait to see some progress on this.

I definitely recommend the LS3 intake and heads. They work great on the LQ4 and make good hp with an appropriately big cam. Plus the LS3 intakes are just much cleaner looking to me than the previous intakes. One of these days I'm going to scoop up a 70 to 73 split bumper and drop an LS in it. I love these cars!

I will have to agree with sierra. LS3 all the way unless you want to spend a fotune on cnc porting and a FAST intake. You can buy the L92's for around $400 complete each. They flow 335cfm @ .600" lift!!! Just stay with a cam in the 115LSA or your vacuum will suffer and tuning will be a royal pain. Ask me how I know!

I see ya found it started this thread along time ago since then I have purchased ls3 heads and intake dynatech headers fbody oil pan and some other small stuff gonna start pulling parts off engine this weekend and pre pair myself for the maddnes I have talked to the guys over at American power train and I'm gonna order a complete t56 magnum kit with no modifications hopefully next week .also talked to the guy at eps gonna have him do my cam I see lots of good reviews about him on the site. Some of the questions I have right now are with the lq4 I have.. since I'm changing to ls3 top end do I need to keep knock sensors? Why does everyone switch to ls2 front cover? What crap can I delete lol bare with me guys this is first build thread there will be a million questions lol

The engine looks good from what I can see. I see you bought the Dynatechs! Great header they just hang a little low. I have a set on my 69. You will need to keep the knock sensors by the way. I would switch the valley cover to an LS6 style to eliminate the undesirable oil from getting into the intake and eventually gumming up your rings and such. You can buy a new version of the LS6 for around $80 and it comes with a new gasket.
To enlarge your pics you will need to use Photobucket. There is a sticky on this subject somewhere in the introduction section. Basically you will load your pics into Photobucket, then scroll through your album and choose which pic you want to post, copy the IMG file, click the reply button in your thread and open the icon that has a mountain on it, paste the IMG link into it and hit submit. You will need to open two browsers one for photobucket and the other for LS1tech. I usually look at my photos and write a little something about the the pic, hit enter twice and then select my pic. Skip two lines and repeat as necessary. The more you do it the easier it becomes.
